Alassio is one of the most elegant seaside resort of the Riviera Ligure.
Its fine and soft sand beach extends for about 4 km. and descends gently into the sea with a very slight slope.

At the end of the 19th century, the English realized that Alassio had unique climatic and environmental characteristics and they understood the importance of the healthy effects of marine stays.
Alassio was an ideal destination in every season and for every age, because of its mild climate.

Another way to enjoy our sea is to walk along the suggestive promenade that links Alassio to the next village, Laigueglia.
On one side you can enjoy the sea and the beaches, on the other you can admire the typical coloured ligurian homes, kiosks, restaurants and many pretty shops.

Our sea is a source of unforgettable experiences

At the “Luca Ferrari” harbour it is possible to rent boats, take sailing courses or book wonderful boat excursions around the Gallinara Isle where expert guides will teach you diving or snorkeling, exploring our fascinating seabed (ask for Mola Mola Dive Team- Sesto Continente Diving).

The Gallinara Isle, whose name probably comes from the wild hens that once lived there, has a religious and monastic past.

Around the middle of 300, St. Martin from Tours went here and during the High Middle Ages the isle hosted the seat of a Benedictine Monastery.

Today the monastery doesn’t exist anymore and the Isle, that is under the municipality of Albenga, is partially private.
For all tastes, Alassio also offers the Wave Walking, a form of athletic thalassotherapy, available all the year round, healthy for our cardiocirculatory system and for the muscular tonicity.

Alassio preserves a collection of unique recipes that tells us stories of ancient times and authentic flavors. These recipes have achieved the recognition of De.Co certificate (traditional local products recipes).
Not to be missed:

Alassio hills are rich of well-marked paths.
Trekking and mountain bike lovers will be surprised.

The hills that envelope Alassio are picturesque with their Mediterranean scrub, ashes woods, holm oaks, pine trees, oaks, wildflowers, olive tree groves, chestnut groves.

From here the panorama is breath-taking.

Strolling around in nature you can also reach typical hamlets such as Solva (with the Santissima Annunziata church- 15th century) and Moglio, where time seems to have stopped.Another noteworthy place is the Tirasso Mount and the Madonna della Guardia Sanctuary (erected around 1200 on Roman ruins).

Don’t miss the Iulia Augusta path (the road conceived by the Roman Emperor Ottaviano Augusto between the years 13 and 12 a.C.), witness of incredible historical and archeological discoveries.

Starting from Capo Santa Croce with the 13th century church, you can reach Sant’Anna ai Monti church. Keep on walking through nature and ancient remains you can arrive to Albenga, an important Roman town.

Undoubtedly one of the best itinerary of west Liguria.
